We’re reaching out to address a breakdown of communication with you, our community of peers, and explain the events of the early week of September 7th.

Due to the extreme distress this situation caused to our staff, we took time the last few days to recover and process so they could be properly addressed, and we feel we owe our community a clear explanation of what occurred this past week.

The safety of all persons and the protection of minors is our absolute priority without compromise, and we recently dealt with two serious situations simultaneously:

• The unauthorized post: Out of an abundance of caution we removed an individual from the event based on community reports. Shortly after, a staff member went rogue and posted about the removal on our socials, framing suspicions as facts. This was completely out of line and contained no useful safety information, so it was deleted immediately.
  
• Staff misconduct: We also received allegations about two of our staff. While we initially mishandled the conversation with the person reporting it, an investigation concluded the staff members had an issue of moral turpitude and discovered after an audit had deliberately bypassed our internal registration safety measures meant to protect minors. They have been dismissed and stripped of all access. (We are an 18+ event and at no point was a minor ever in danger of being admitted, as it is our policy to check ID at registration prior to admittance.)

While we worked to moderate in good faith and dealt with the situation within hours, our failed public response however allowed these incidents to be conflated, and our intentions, however good, met with suspicion. We sincerely apologize both to the individuals who engaged us and the community at large for our inability to properly manage our communication.
Going forward we are revising our policies to prevent this in the future and we hope with effort, the community will allow us the privilege of continuing to serve them in the days to come and beyond.
